Hayes & Y are an exciting new band on the Manchester / London indie rock scene. Originally from Bulgaria, they have recently moved to UK in the hope of building on their success in their home country.
The Salford-based four piece has been affected by the pandemic as much as anyone else, facing a disappointing halt to their live performances and dealing with the neglect of support for the creative industries. Overcoming this, the band have channelled their energy into creating new music instead; ‘The Times’ is the first of three singles set to be released over the coming months.
Having supported the likes of Kasabian and The Subways, this band is gaining quite a reputation for itself, and past sponsorship deals from H&M and Heineken show that they’re not without influential fans either.

Immaculately good vibes and a 70’s disco edge is what the newest single from Hayes & Y provides. The multi-national group have nailed catchy songwriting to the tee with ‘Empty Orchestra’.
This recent release by the stellar four-piece showcases brilliantly the groups’ ability to change up their sound. Hayes & Y clearly love their more experimental take on songwriting and as a listener, we can hear the joy and passion in their music. The band have successfully exhibited their talent to Manchester and are now ready to show everyone else just how musically apt and creative they are.

With phasered soundscapes and layered vocals dancing among the funkier elements of the music, ‘The Times’ feels like a tasteful hybrid between Vulfpeck and MGMT – a respectable level of influence can be heard without crossing the line and sounding like a rip-off.
‘The Times’ is a song I can’t wait to have a dance to post-lockdown, and I’m sure many will be in agreement. With this being the first of their trilogy of upcoming releases, the bar has been set seriously high for Hayes & Y. RGM 2021
